Li Guilian, owner of the Chinese clothing company that manufactured the U.S. Olympic uniformsfor Ralph Lauren, is at once bemused and dismayed by the outrage many Americans have expressed about the garments’ overseas provenance. After all, nearly half of all clothing in the United States today is made in China. Most garment manufacturing fled U.S. shores years ago as designers and business owners took advantage of inexpensive labor elsewhere. “I have a simple question,” she told the Los Angeles Times. “Can America really make the suits we make? We have cheaper costs here so you can have cheaper prices in America.”

The Boy Scouts of America announced Tuesday that it will continue to enforce its policy of barring gay scouts and leaders after a confidential two-year review.

The organization came to the conclusion after it quietly formed an 11-person committee, comprised of scout executives and adult volunteers, in 2010 to evaluate the 102-year-old policy, Boy Scouts’ national spokesman, Deron Smith, told the AP.

Smith said that the group unanimously agreed “that this policy is absolutely the best policy for the Boy Scouts.”

It’s unclear whether the Boy Scouts announcement that they would be upholding their anti-gay policies contributed to a decision by Major League Soccer last week but it can’t be seen as a coincidence.

Outsports reports that the organization announced they’re cutting ties with the BSA with this statement:

“Major League Soccer’s agreement with the Boy Scouts of America expires at the end of the 2012 season and MLS does not intend the renew the agreement for a variety of business reasons,” MLS President Mark Abbott said in a statement to Goal.com on Friday.
